Emergency COVID-19 Water Discount Program
Water discount includes: 43% discount on water and sewer usage charges, no late fees, no shut offs. Eligible Recipients Must Be: Water bill account holder, approved for unemployment since March 18, 2020 (eligibility letter required).

Eligibility Window: March 18, 2020 until 90 days after current state of emergency is lifted or December 31, 2020 whichever comes first. Apply: Online at cityservices.baltimorecity.gov/BH20 or bmorechildren.com/BH20, by calling 410-396-5398 to have a water discount application mailed to you.

WHAT IS THE CORONAVIRUS (CoVID-19)?
  •  A respiratory illness that can spread from person to person
HOW DOES THE CORONAVIRUS SPREAD?
  • It is spread between people in close contact with one another through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It may also be possible to get the virus by touching surfaces or objects that have the virus on it and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes, however, this isn't the main mode of transmission. 
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
Mild or severe respiratory illness with:
  • Fever (>100.4) 
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • May also have nausea, vomiting
WHO CAN GET INFECTED?
  • Older adults, children, individuals with weakened immune systems (Cancer, receiving infusion treatments), and pre-existing conditions (Hypertension, Diabetes, COPD, CHF, etc.) are at an increased risk for the virus 
WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATIONS?
  • Pneumonia in both lungs, Multi-organ failure, death 
HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF?
 You can protect yourself from respiratory illness with everyday preventative actions:
  •  Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use Hand Sanitizer with 60% alcohol or more if soap and water are not available
HOW TO PREVENT SPREAD OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES?
  • STAY HOME if you are SICK.
  • COVER your COUGH or SNEEZE with a tissue and then throw into the trash. OR COUGH/SNEEZE into the crook of YOUR ELBOW. WASH your HANDS!!!
  • CLEAN and DISINFECT frequently touched surfaces and objects.
  • HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS and PERSONS who are INFECTED should be the ONLY ONES WEARING MASKS!
 WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?
  • Remain calm. Continue with your daily routines. 
  • Watch the local and national news for the latest updates regarding the virus.
  • Always WASH, WASH, WASH your HANDS!!!
